Patience at Work Killen 3/16/2025

Galatians 6: 7-10  nkjv7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

❓What are some things that make you impatient❓What does being patient mean to you❓

💥*  Patience is important in the Bible.

1.  Hebrews 10:36  You have need of patience for after you have done the will of God that you might      receive the promise.

➣   Without patience, we cannot receive the promises of God.

2.  James 5:7 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits      for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.

➣  It is through patience that God works His plan and will for our life.  💥 We reap in life!     

3.  James 1: 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking      Nothing.          

➣  God uses patience to make us strong, mature, fruitful believers equipped to face and handle all that darkness wants to throw at us.     

4.  Galatians 6:9 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.           

➣   It’s how we are rewarded for our work.  We get to see the goodness of God that   comes out of the things we labor for and do for God.

⭐   Many believers openly say, “Never pray for patience!”  Why? Because the Scripture says tribulation works patience.  

• So if you are praying for patience, you are praying for tribulation.  No, that’s not necessarily true. ( Jesus said that the world will give us tribulation.)

💥  That’s very unbiblical!  No where does the Word teach us not to pray for patience.

• 🚩  ON the contrary, the Bible is full of admonitions that teach us to pray for patience!
• 👉  It is a deception and lie of the devil to make us believe it is better not to pray for patience so that we can receive the rewards of God. 
• 👉  Rather than to make us eager to pray for the very key that opens the door for us to receiving all the goodness that God has to offer us.

💥  What is patience?  What does it look like in action?   Galatians 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 

( According to these verses)

1.     DO NOT GROW WEARY. V9) Patience is staying the course when you have done all you know to do, but see nothing. 💥  Without patience we grow weary! 💥

• Hebrews 10:36  You have need of patience for AFTER you have done the will of God that you might receive the promise.

➣  Keep the course.➣  DON’T GET FRUSTRATED (IMPATIENT)-- THINKING IT DIDN’T WORK OR IT WAS ALL IN VAIN. 

👉 ****)  Patience is not just the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting! (****👈

👉 ****)   Two things that define us:  Our patience when we have nothing, and our attitude when we have everything!

A.   Without patience we become discouraged.  Depressed.  Lose our hope. Stop doing what we are supposed to be doing! ( don’t quit , just give up on God) Go back to old, worldly habits.

2.     KEEP DOING GOOD! Don’t grow weary in doing good. V9)  Some think that patience means sitting back and doing nothing.💥  Without patience we stop doing what we are supposed to be doing.  We start being counter productive to our goals.💥     Keep doing God’s will.          We get frustrated and don’t think it’s working.           We stop doing what God wants us to do.

• 👉 ****)  If we do nothing--- we get nothing
• 👉 ****)  If you do nothing unexpected (God’s word) then nothing unexpected happens.

💥   Sometimes without, patience we start doing!  Not necessarily good, but what’s right in our own eyes. Without patience we start getting in the way of God.

• Taking matters into our own hands. (Saul vs Samuel)
• Try to make things happen. ( Only make things worse)

3.     DON’T QUIT! v9) Lose heart. 💥 Without patience we quit!

• I can see why the devil wants us to not pray for patience!  It’s his victory!
• 👉 ****)  We only fail when we stop trying! (****👈

👉 ****)   Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.  The most certain way to succeed is to always try just one more time.

👉 ****)  In the movie “Hacksaw Ridge”, the medic was able to do what seemed humanly impossible to do.  He saved over 75 souls.  When asked how he was able to do that, he gave all the glory to God and attributed it to asking God each time he lowered someone down from the top to give him the strength to go and get just “One more”. (****👈

• When he felt he was at the end of his rope and could do no more, Desmond Doss, prayed not to give up or quit, and just to keep doing “One More”.

 Galatians 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 💥  Life without patience?     

A.  Weary, discouraged, defeated,

B.  Not seeing the fruit of God in your life.

C.  Being controlled by circumstances.  Tossed to and fro by every wind of trouble.

💥 What does being patient look like.

It’s listening to and following God:  

1.   Not just sitting back, but continuing to do what is right! 

• Even when you don’t see anything happening.

2.  Never quitting or giving up because we KNOW that God will use what we do to make a difference and bring about His will.

• Through our patience and obedience, He will cause ALL things to work together for the good.

➣ Patience is not passive waiting but active acceptance of the process required to attain your goals and dreams.

➣ Patience an exercise in self-control➣ Patience is to count down before you blast off.
