Matthew 25: 1-10 nkjv25 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
❓When has someone ever mocked or attacked you for your faith in Christ❓❓Have you ever been attacked not for being a Christian, but believing what the Bible teaches?❓
💥⭐ According to several recent studies: People will mock Christianswhen they perceive others doing more than they do:
- Provokes a feeling of inferiority. (Insecurity)
You think you're better than me.
- They feel judged and condemned by your actions.
I’m just as good as you.
- They don’t want to believe the truth.
They want to change the truth of God. Argue their beliefs against the Scripture.
💥 The oil in our lamp is the Word of God!
John 1:1 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
- v14) 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
- v4) 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The oil that produces the light.
- Hebrews 4:11-12) 11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
💥 The Word is God!
- 2 Timothy 3:16) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [a]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
- It comes from God’s heart (Christ) All Scripture comes from the heart of God.
- All Scripture is given by inspiration of God
- Alive and active; living and powerful
- Gives us the oil to make us ready to receive Christ
- Give us the light we need to change the darkness in us, affecting the world around us
⭐ OUR TEXT
There are people who will mock our faith and want to (destroy) take it away from us
.2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
- They look like people of the faith
- Christians; People waiting for Jesus to come
- They are in the right crowd. They are among them, but not of them.
The problem:
1. They didn’t prepare. But the oil in their lamps.V3) 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
2. They are not who they thought they were. v11) 11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
They looked the same
- Had the correct lamp ( The same Scripture)
- Were with the right people
➣ But didn’t have the oil to be seen.
3 They didn’t think they needed the oil!
Teaches:
I. Be wise: v2)2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Fill your lamp with the living oil of God! The Word of God.
- Ask God into your life. John 1:1)
II. Let the oil prepare your lamp! 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
- 2 Timothy 3:16) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
- The work of the Holy Spirit in our heart is not to make us “good” people, but to make us Christlike.
- Children of God
II. Let the Holy Spirit trim your lamp. 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. Light your lamp.A. V John 16: 12-16) “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
- The Holy Spirit works in us.
- He corrects, rebukes, teaches
- He discerns our thoughts and intents; what is underneath it all
B. V John 14:26) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
C. John 14:15-17) “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
D. Ezekiel 36:27 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. 28 Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.
Do not follow the path of the world, instead make new trails by following God’s Word
