Thinking In The Spirit September 1, 2024

Proverbs 23;7 nkjv For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.

❓What happens to the brain when we die❓When we our physical brain stops thinking, does our spirit become ignorant?⭐   It’s important to understand that our spirit doesn’t use our physical brain to think!

⭐   But it is equally important to understand that we must know the Word of God and how to apply it to our physical thinking and life, so that we will not destroy ourselves and others.

💥  As a man thinks in his heart, so is he!  Not the brain.         The soul.1. = that which breathes, the breathing substance or being = the soul, the inner being of man:

  • What  departs at death and returns with life to God

2. That becomes a living being: by God's breathing into the nostrils

⭐ Proverbs 23:7How we think:A.   Determines who we are!

  • The flesh must come under the control of God’s truth that declares that once we are saved we become “new creations in Christ”.
    • Transforms us from who we think we are to who God created us to be.
  • We are more than conquerors.
    • People who live in the freedom of God and not under the bondage of Satan.

B.   Determines what we believe

  • Lies or truth.  In our world today, we are told that we can make up our own truth.  Truth is unchanging. There cannot be two truths opposite of each other.  If a truth contradicts another truth, then one of them is false.
  • What’s right from wrong.    ! Doing what’s right in our own eyes!

     C.   Determines how we daily live

  • What is Christlike versus what is ungodly.  How believers live vs how the lost live.
  • Our carnal thinking must learn to fight the lies of the enemy that makes us believe false things and live life according to things that are not true.
  • Doing what is right in our own eyes.

⭐ Our problem: 1 Corinthians 2:9-149 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the [d]Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 💥  If we can’t think spiritually, then we will never be able to understand the things of God.   1.   Remain lost v14)  2.   Never able to see the truth v9)   Eye has not seen

3.   Always learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3: 1-9) But know this, that in the last days [a]perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

     4.  People who break bad habits but never have a changed heart.  Matthew 7: 22-  22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

⭐ How to think in the Spirit!

I.    John 3:5-9)   Must be saved.  Born again.  What’s of the flesh is flesh and what’s of the Spirit is spirit. 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”

  • We can be a Pharisee!   Act very religious.  Be good people and still lost and corrupt inwardly

II.   John 16:12-14)  Must have the Holy Spirit 12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

  • Learn the voice of Christ speaking to our heart.
  • The word is powerful.  Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

III.  Must let the Spirit renew and transform our mind.  Romans 12:2)   Physical knowledge and soul. v2)  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
